I agree completely! My downloads take hours! It would be great to have fast DSL or broadband service.

What speeds do you have?

I have a DSL connection speed 3 Mbit/s which is not bad. It's good enough web surfing, email. Also for downloading medium (300MB) files. It's not fast enough to download DVD movies or anything like that, that would take far too long.

So I'm pretty pleased with my speed, but it does cost me about 35 euro/month which I find on the high side.

Spain has some of the highest internet charges in Europe (for the speed offered).

The standard offer is with "Telefonica" which gives you the landline, internet access at 3MBps and cabel Tv for 60€ a month.
Take out the cable tv and it drops to 40€... still very expensive for what they offer...

Apparently 10MBps is coming along within 2yrs once the fibre optic cabling has been installed.... I´ll believe it when I see it

I dont know where you got your figures from but I am with Telefonica and I pay 39€ which I think is very reasonable.

Like American companies, Spanish companies probably charge different rates in different areas because of the average income of the area. Bottom line if a company thinks they can get away with it they will rip you off. It is you the consumers responsibility to let them know after a certain point they can go bankrupt for all you care. Start disconnecting from this wonderful web and culture they want us all in and prices will start falling.

3 mbps isn't so bad, however watching movies online could be really hard.

Goodness, I feel really bad about complaining about mine. I have 10mg and can only imagine what 3 is like.

Hey,
Spain does have some super fast internet connections. When I first moved out here, I couldn't find any reliable internet provider that I could afford. As one of you guys mentioned, its crazy expensive and there is only 1 provider and all of Spain. Basically, they know that they can rip you off completely, and you really don't have a choice. However, I found a way out of this. It is free of charge and gives you a fast internet connection, which I found to be very convenient. I installed it quickly and easily using my modem. The best part is, there are no fees or extra charges. They also provide support in English and Spanish, which is great as we live in Spain. Check it out, the link is

Enjoy! :)

This way, your internet bill works out cheaper!
