STRIKE

Postby cases xalo on Mon Jun 09, 2008 11:02 am

The fisherman have been on strike over a week, the lorries have followed suit and the panic petrol buying has started.

Jalon petrol station ran out of diesel and gasoil yesterday whilst petrol is running out any minute now.

Drive conservatly, dont take any unnecessary journeys, and youll be fine.

In the meantime: lets all start walking to work! (if possible)

Regards
Emma

I know it's not nice for the public, but I totally agree with the strike. Prices for diesel are way to high. Not sure how much of the price goes to the goverment, but in the UK and other countries like the Netherlands, I wouldn't be suprised if 80% of the diesel price goes to the goverment on all kind of taxes.

If the fishermen don't take action now, the will go completly broke and then the fish price will also go up.

I think it is a major problem in the world, oil/fuel is running out. And now big countries like India and China are using so much of it, demand is rising and the oil wells are getting empty. I'm not a doom thinker, but prices are going to rise much and much more, not only for fuel but for everything, energie at home and also food. And the last is a disaster for poor countries like in Africa.

With the high oil prices, it will stimulate the use of alternative energie, wind and solar, which offcourse is a good thing for the enviroment.

A big help would be if the US cuts down on there energie use, I believe I read somewhere, a US citizen uses 4 times more energie then a European. They should get rid of there third fridge/freezer, there fourth tv and maybe drive a small car instead of there 4x4 pickup truck. And I believe the Americans are complaining that there fuel price is € 0,60 / liter. Bet they have no idea the prices in Europe are an average of € 1,45 / liter.

So everyone, get on the pushbike, start walking. It will save your wallet and it will help you to lose the fat arse and beer belly. :D :D :D

Me, personally, I like walking but sometimes for work I have to use my car.

You can understand the strike action, i mean in 1 year the price of fuel has doubled and is set to rise even more!!!

The people and workers in the Uk had to do the same recently, I hope for everyones sake that a peacefl solution can be found and that the drastic action makes the fuel bosses see sense.

Agreed everyone has to do there bit for the environment, and if you dont need to use the car and are able to walk the distance then do so. It will be benefically to yourself, your wallet and generations to come :D

Ok I have some problems with your observations. First off we are not running out of oil. That's just a bunch of crap there is approx 999% more oil in the ground at the moment than has been pulled out since the beginning of usage of oil. Second off I don't know what you have heard but your average American is not running four TV's, three fridges, etc. We do have a love for large vehicles, but that was pushed upon us by media and the stupid people of America who felt that bigger is better fell for it. You probably not being from America have no idea how hard this increase in gas prices has hit the poorer class of Americans. We have people who now have to choose between gas to get back and forth from work, and food or medicine. You would have to live here all of your life and understand what is expected of Americans to understand why we are griping so loudly.
Also you have no idea as to what has caused the rise in the price of oil to start with. Perhaps you should do a lot more research before making broad statements like you have as the real situation is way more complicated than you understand. And Americans would probably rise up and replace their government if 80% of the price of things was taxes. We rule our government, not the other way around.
